Heat Wave Sunday

The heat is on in the Santa Clara Valley - just look at the weather forecast for the first week of July!

For those of you who prefer Centigrade - the temperature is going to be in the mid 30's!

The San Jose Sharks Fitness Face-Off was on - and it was 80F by 9:30 in the morning (that's almost 27C) and it was heating up fast. I walked past the booths at Guadalupe River Park on my way to Philz Coffee at Paseo San Antonio - it's about 1.5 miles from my house and across the street from San Jose State University.

I love to look at the Guadalupe River meandering it's way through downtown San Jose.

Too bad it was too early for the Bubble Tea place to be open!

I walked through South First Area (SOFA) and saw crochet-covered trees.

The area around SJSU is filled with old, historic houses, like the Reardon House, above, built in 1881. Amazingly, it's survived all the earthquakes so far!

Another popular food place - Las Iguanas, Home of the Burritozilla.

Finally made it to Philz, and I ordered a Dancing Water iced coffee with Cardamom. Delish!

I decided to take Light Rail back home, as it was now up to 85F heading towards 90F (over 29C). I made my way to the Paseo San Antonio VTA stop, which is nicely shaded by trees.

I made sure I coated myself in high SPF sunscreen, and used a lot of blotting papers too!

The heat has convinced me to chop about 4" off my hair - have a hair appointment in Japantown before I head off to Oregon!

  1. I chopped off my hair back in late March due to the heat...I am glad I did it back then because now it grew back a little (so I can put it into a pony tail or bun). Short cut that are around the neck are much heat absorbent than longer one put up.

  2. I can't believe this heatwave! My air conditioner broke on us last week, and we had to call Carrier hvac to come install a rental unit. I laughed aloud at the 110 spf sunscreen, because I was happy to see I'm not the only one who uses it.
